Inventory planning sits between sales and cash. It answers three questions: how much of each product will sell in the coming weeks, when stock must arrive to keep the listing live, and how much cash the stock will tie up along the way. When any of those answers is guessed, the business either runs out of its fastest movers or pays to store products that do not move.
We build the forecast from your own sales history, then adjust it for seasonality, planned promotions, advertising changes and known supplier delays. The forecast is shared in a plain spreadsheet, and every assumption can be changed by your team. We would rather show a range with its reasons than a single number that looks precise.
The work also covers the operational side: the timing of inbound shipments to fulfilment centres, the split of stock across the network where your setup allows it, and the review of aged inventory before storage costs build up.
Each product group gets a named owner on your side. That person approves reorder quantities, flags supplier changes and signs off the monthly clearance list, so no decision about stock depends on a single conversation that nobody wrote down.
Inventory areas we plan
-
Demand forecast
Weekly forecast by product, adjusted for season, promotions and known changes.
-
Reorder points
Trigger levels set from lead time and safety stock, written so anyone on the team can check them.
-
Inbound timing
Shipment dates planned back from the peak, with buffers for supplier and transit delay.
-
Cash cover
Stock value and the cash it ties up shown next to the growth plan, not after it.
-
Aged and slow stock
Lines that stop selling are flagged early, with a clearance option for you to approve.
-
Monthly review
Forecast against actual sales, with the reorder list updated and the reasons written down.
How we set safety stock and reorder points
Safety stock is a decision, not a habit. For each product we look at the variation in weekly demand, the reliability of the supplier and the cost of running out. A fast-moving product with a slow, unreliable supplier needs more cover than a steady product with a fast one. A product with high storage cost and low margin may need less. We write the logic down so a new buyer can follow it.
Reorder points are set from the same inputs. We agree the trigger level, the order quantity and the approval rule for each product group. Where a supplier changes its lead time, the trigger changes at the next review, not at the next crisis.
Where stock problems hide
Stock problems usually show up first as a sales problem. A listing loses its place, advertising costs rise, and the team spends more to get fewer orders. Checking stock status before changing any advertising budget is one of the simplest habits we introduce. Inbound shipments that sit unreceived, long-term storage fees and returns that go back into sellable stock without a check are the other usual gaps.
We do not decide what to buy on your behalf. Purchasing decisions stay with you. Our role is to make the numbers clear enough that the decision is quick and well informed.

Questions about inventory planning
Do you place purchase orders?
Not unless you ask us to, and only within limits you set in writing. Most clients keep purchasing with their own team and use our plan as the basis.
Which tools do you use?
We keep the model in a shared spreadsheet your team can open. If you already run an inventory system, we work from its exports and agree the format before we start.
How accurate is a forecast?
No forecast is accurate for every product. We show ranges, explain the assumptions and update the model monthly, so the error is visible and shrinks as the data improves.
Do you handle customs and freight?
Not as part of this service. We plan timing and quantities, and can coordinate with your freight forwarder on dates if you want that included in scope.
